ABOUT

Justin T. Smith, MD

As a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Sports Surgeon, Dr. Smith specializes in the treatment of athletic injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle.

With 10 years of post-graduate medical training under some of the top surgeons in the world, Dr. Smith is highly adapted in cartilage restoration, joint preservation, joint arthroscopy, minimally invasive sports surgery, ligament and tendon repair/reconstruction, and joint replacement.

Dr. Smith cares for professional athletes, youth through college athletes, weekend warriors, leisure athletes, and even older non-athletes.

Dr. Smith's goals are to provide patients with superior quality care, from injury prevention to cutting edge surgical care to fast-track post-operative rehabilitation to athletic health maintenance.

This begins with great bedside manner and emotional intelligence, as not every injury is created equal, and every patient's situation and goals are different.

With a thorough understanding of the injury and treatment options, patients decide what route best suits their individual needs.

Athletic Coverage

As a sports medicine surgeon, Dr. Smith volunteers his time to serve as the team physician for numerous teams with a variety of ages and competitive levels from professional to youth sports to weekend warriors to casual sports.

Care Philosophy

The term 'doctor' comes from the latin term 'docere' or to teach. This is the foundation in which my practice functions. We are teachers and guides for athletes and individuals that are unfortunate to fall victim to injury and musculoskeletal trauma. From the field to the clinic and from the operating room back out onto the field, patient's are guided every step of the way with an emphasis on understanding so that patients may better conquer their ailments and return to the highest level.

I have found great enjoyment and satisfaction in providing care to the athletes, weekend warriors, and the active elderly. I believe it is a huge privilege to be able to provide active individuals the ability to continue their sport. Sports are more than a means to develop or maintain cardiovascular fitness, it is a powerful psychosocial tool in childhood development and mental well-being throughout life.
